FAQs

Q. Is ING or ABN AMRO better?

A. ABN AMRO is a good bank, but ING is better.

ABN AMRO's main advantage is that they are everywhere in the Netherlands. ING has much fewer branches and doesn't have many ATMs. But for normal customers, this hardly matters anymore. You can do almost everything with your credit card, and if you need to do a bank transfer, it's just as easy to do it over the phone or on the web with ING as with ABN AMRO. So if you live in Amsterdam, you don't need a local branch of ABN AMRO; one will do fine.

ABN AMRO also has a reputation for being conservative, which probably means they are less likely to get into trouble.

ING has two big advantages over ABN AMRO: higher interest rates and lower fees.
